Serono, a
leading biotechnology company, reports strong earnings
increases for the full year of 2003.
In December of
2003, the FDA approved Zorbtive. This is Serono's
recombinant human growth hormone. It was created for
treatment of short bowel syndrome, which is a potentially
fatal condition. The FDA Office of Orphan Products
Development granted Zorbtive orphan drug status for patients
with short bowel syndrome. Zorbtive is administered via
injection.
